Canadian producer, POUPON is an undeniable talent. Having relocated from his home town of Toronto, Canada to the Dutch Capital of Amsterdam, the production young gun has released a string of well-received originals and remixes, including his new EP ‘Fall Back’ which dropped today on deep house imprint, LOVE & OTHER. Hot off the back of his much-loved THUMP mix, which has garnered an impressive 10,000 plays to date, we took a moment to catch up with Poupon for another instalment of FIVE FOR THE FLOOR.
1. Full Crate x Mar – Man x Woman (Friend WIthin Remix)
I love this tune because the vocals are just so god damn smooth, and then Friend Within brings that signature funky 2 step groove, with some bouncy bass. Soul!
2. Zinc – Show Me (Cause & Affect Remix)
Just the right combination of emotion and grit. Simple yet effective, the chords really get me!
3. Poupon – Fall Back feat. Sam Moffatt
The A-side of my new EP. I really love this tune as I feel it combines Pop/R&B elements with raw dance floor vibes which is what I’ve really been striving for in my music. A few of my DJ pals have been dropping it at some big venues and the reactions have been great. Also Sam is a great singer from my hometown of Toronto, and we’ve already got some more long distance collabs in the works!
4. Sidney Charles – Need
This song is over a year old now, but I honestly play it in every set. I don’t think I’ve ever had a song work as well as this one does, every single time. Sidney’s productions are next level, and the way he twisted the Show Me Love vocal is genius. Don’t know if I’ll ever stop playing it.
5. The System – You’re In My System (Kerri Chandler Remix)
Old school KC in the house! Love dropping this one at the end of the night to send people off on a happy note.
